Sacramento-based Aerojet supplied the propulsion for NASA's spectacular mission to Mars, which launched on Saturday. There will be some tense moments in August when the rover Curiosity lands on Martian soil.
My dad built the landing thrusters for both this project and the first two Viking landers back in the 70's. He passed away in March 2011 so this very well could have been his last project. Its funny that one of his first big projects was the Viking 1 thrusters and one of his last was also a Mars mission. He worked in the Redmond plant long before it was AeroJet.
