Mary Wilson - If I Were Your Woman / from "Supreme Soul!"

Mary Wilson, Diva Supreme starred in the Swedish musical stage production "Supreme Soul" in early 1997. Mary and her co-star, Tommy Nilsson ( Scandinavian Soul Brother Number One) were a tour de force bringing to audiences in Sweden, Germany, Switzerland ,etc many of the most popular Soul and R&B classics!
Here Mary gives props to her friend and fellow Motown Diva Gladys Knight with her wonderful rendition of "If I Were Your Woman" a smash hit for Gladys Knight and the Pips in 1971. Check the lady out.......

@in2food .And she ain't SUPPOSED to be, my friend. I DO know what you're sayin. But it isn't 'fair' to make another artist 'Be' what the original did. They are 'not' them. And this, again, was a quick runthru to get a feel of what to do with it, and the stage and the costume as well. But given time, it may prove a gem. I'm sure that Glady was similar before she cornered what to Do with the song too. May be different if we heard 'her' demo that she listened to. But it's all good!

It never occurred to me that Mary Wilson would ever sing a Gladys Knight cover. Their voices fall into a lot of the same register. FANTASTIC JOB, MARY! Such a big, strong voice, as well. This song suited her perfectly!! Maybe Mary doing Gladys would have been a better template to follow as opposed to Mary doing Diana covers!!..
