@GGE47 There's another similarity:Both Bobby Thomson and Felipe Alou-who scored the winning run in 1962-wore number 23.

Anybody notice the similarities between the '51 and '62 Giants pennant? They come from way behind to finish in a tie for first place with the Dodgers to force a best of three playoff. They split the first two and the Giants are behind in game three going to the 9th.In '51 Bobby Thompson hit a three run homer to win,but in '62 the Giants rallied dor four runs to win.The Dodgers had Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale, but I can't remember what they did.

@JCHONDA2NR Today's WS is nothing but BS.Watered down by playoffs that serve no purpose but to keep the fatcats get fatter.

This is what baseball is really about. No divisions,no wildcards, true baseball. The top team from each league. The Giants and Dodgers had a playoff, but it was to break a tie for the National League pennant. They were counted as regular season games. The World Series was just as exciting or it might end up like the '51 series after the Bobby Thompson homerun,or game 7 of the '75 series between the Reds and Red Sox.It just wouldn't have been talked about.Today's fan can't understand that kind of drama.

I was at Game 6, the 5-2 Yankee win, or was it game 5? I was in the centerfield bleachers, age 12..."hi, Mickey...hi, Willie" CJ

The 1962 World Series marked the seventh World Series meeting between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants.
Well, my dear Miles ... It seems your capacity for civilized, thoughtful expression perfectly matches that of RowdyRod. Perhaps you should go bowling together. I am at a loss to understand why people like you are stimulated to obscenity by the very thought of someone who would like the world to be just a trifle more polite. Go wash your mouth out, and find someone else to pick on.
