LAKEVILLE STATE HOSPITAL

Lakeville State Hospital formally known as Lakeville Sanitarium is located in Lakeville, Ma it is an abandoned hospital that took its first patient in on January 6, 1910 and closed its doors on February 8, 1992 and now will be torn down for a strip mall soon. the hospital was first used to quarantine patients that had tuberculosis and a home for the mentally ill. In 1949 the hospital began to accept patients with other chronic diseases. this place has just been something i have been fascinated with since i was a child and it will be shame when its gone. my aunt was a nurse there and my sister had an operation there when she was a teen and she said it was wierdest place she has ever been in.

Does anyone know what they are building on the back side of the hospital? i see that they are doing construction work on Rhode Island RD in the field behind the hospital.

loved the video jeanette!! But just to clear things upthere are no buildings quarantined because of TB on the property. The airborne bacteria that causes TB can only survive up to 6 weeks without a host. The hospital has security there because of the curiosity factor. Its such a cool place..who wouldnt want to check it out?! Unfortunately, people vandalize and further damage the property.

wow, i live like literally 45 seconds from the place, they were gunna tear it down, but some how they never did...and how on earth can someone sneak in w.o being arrested for trespassing?

it is almost impossible they really watch that place because one of the buildings there contain an airborne tuberculosis and it really spreads quickly but thankfully they have a cure for it now if it ever happends. thats why they havent torn it down yet because they have to quarantine that building.
