Saving Private Ryan is an incredible movie but so is The Thin Red Line. I'd have to say it terms if which i'd rather watch again and again though, SPR.

i know this sounds like a total douchy thing to say but you really have to be more intelligent to like ttrl more. fuck i'm sorry but thats the way i feel. i'm open for debate if you'd like

They might both be ww2 films, but they're very different kinds. TTRL is a more of a philosophy of war and studies the characters perceptions mostly. While SPR is more of a WW2 re imagining. Not saying thin red line didn't achieve the film realistically, but SPR was more of a reliving of the WW2 and gave us a good look horrors of war realistically along with the ryan story. Its hard to say since it really is two completely different war films. They're both flawless.

I'm a Spielberg fan and all, but aside from the incredible battle sequences and a great performance by Tom Hanks I've always found Saving Private Ryan to be just another conventional World War II movie. My vote goes to The Thin Red Line.
