Personally I think anyone that thinks theres a "piranha" in this tank is stupid. Ive owned Piranha's and ive also owned Pacu. Some features are similar but in reality they look nothing alike. Totally different body structure. Almost like comparing a shark to a catfish. It just sounds dumb. That is for sure a Pacu. And putting piranhas with cichlid isnt as bad as you think, ive done it and they get along fine. Never tryed with Africans but South Americans with Piranhas are totally fine. Nice tank!

Awsome tank!!!! Nice fish man!!

How many fish are in that tank?
-
WOW, NICE TANK! How often do you have to change the water with that many fish. I have a 55 with 12 Africans and only change 15% water once a month.

@Quisite Looks like a pacu to me , i could be wrong but sure looks more like a pacu then piranha

the pacu is better left in this tank because this is the life that it knows and you cant expect it to be better off by turning the world it knows and looks happy in upside down by taking that away from it. leave it in this tank and dont risk its life by putting it in a low ph tank ever! i love this tank and i also have ten years ex with fish and have a 120 gallon cichlid tank.
it's your tank... put whatever you want to put in it...nice tank..,.

ive just started to change my tank into a cichlid tank because i wanted a marine tank but cant be assed with all the upkeep of things, could you suggest some different types of set ups? at the moment i have a 60gallon tank with about 45kg of cichlid rock with 2 yellow labs, 2 firemouths, 2 red empress's and 2 yellow top afras am i going the correct way about it?

no mate, iam not a pro-designer but i can give you a hint. either you go with landscape disign or a fish set. if first chosen then fish dont matter much. put a couple of what you like most and thats probably it. if second, you gotta to decide either to go brutal with only big utaka male predators and rough rock + gentle sand as contrast or mbuna. if latter then there is nothing better than mix of yellow and blue. i.e. put lots of demasonis and lb. yellows and it will be a damn stunning view

believe me. put more light and colors will go vivid. add marine lamp, i always do. basically lamps do lots of work... no lamps - no fish

thanx a lot and happy new year! besides a few zebras (a couple of red and females of blue + some OBs), most of oranges are l. trewavasae. but i guess you asked for females of melanochromis johanni, no? lovely fish. also i have daktari in different variations - germans are deep yellow close to orange and thai ones are light lemon, dont know why though:) could be saluosi as well.
