News Positioning System -- an introduction

News Positioning System is a way to share bookmarks of articles around stories with an emphasis on place. All articles end up on a map, and are easily searched by tags and keywords. We developed it first for communities impacted by extractive industries, but other groups use it as well.

A "bookmarklet" is always accessible as you browse the web. If you find an article you want to map, just click the bookmarklet. Tags will be generated automatically, and the system will try to find places named in the articles. All tags and places can be corrected.
