This is "Fear" from Final Fantasy VIII, composed by Nobuo Uematsu.

For the longest time, if you'd have asked me what piece I associate with the FF8 soundtrack, I would have named this one. I can remember that I would try to play those chords on the piano when I first played the game, back then I had no clue about arranging, so I had always wanted to play it. This is pure atmosphere. I ended up playing it slightly faster than the original, and also the grand is beginning to get out of tune, so some notes may unfortunately sound a bit weird.

I think this will be it for now, I've had some opportunities to record on that grand this week and now I'm taking a break. Also, I think that even if these pieces are simpler than the usual stuff I used to play, the strain on my fingers is still there even with these pieces, so in the near future I'll have to resort to even way more simpler stuff. I guess I just couldn't help myself because I don't get the opportunity to have free access the grand to such an extent often, and I replayed FF8 a while ago so I had the desire to play some of its music. BTW, isn't it interesting to replay a game that you played many many years ago and were very fond of and realize that you didn't understand a thing about the real significant aspects of it back then? I have been reading up on story analyses and some of that stuff is on a high-end literary criticism and philosophical level, you can read for hours and still haven't delved deep enough into it, just amazing. Anyway, thanks again for your support.

  • This is truly great. Thank you for the performance. It especially means something because of your condition, and brings back many memories. You need an elixer for your fingers!

  • @PhilHartshorn thanks :) yeah i need to take the zombie junction off my hands and put esuna on there, let's hope that helps haha

  • might be wierd but im hella anxious to hear the next ffviii song you play :)

  • @metalhawj i actually have one or two ff8 pieces prerecorded and will probably upload them soon, but they are unlike the ones i uploaded recently, one is a FFPC piece and the other one really simple.

  • As a subscriber, I don't think I've been as happily surprised as i've been this past week watching your FF8 songs. Seriously, if you translated even half of the game's album into your own ff8 piano collection i would buy it no question. It's my favorite game OST on my favorite single instrument! Glad that someone with your musical talent both in theory and execution can adapt these lesser-played soundtrack songs with the grace and emotion they were created to bring out in the first place.

  • i hope you will do the landing!

  • I love that you replayed the game. I need to get on that. lol. :P

  • @drunyon214 i think that might be true, i keep mixing those two tracks together sometimes. also nice to have that piece be seifer's theme, it fits to him.

  • @Verdegrand I believe it is Seifer's theme, Unrest, in the Galbadia reception room where you find out that he was supposedly executed.
