It's 525 feet tall, and in person it is absolutely breathtaking! Also, one can see it from miles away.

I figured the guy wouldn't only do that indded, I mean it's not like it's a daily thing. Props to him/them ( I assume it's not just one person ). I had the pleasure to get ontop of a container crane while I was working for my town's harbour but this is just another level, must be really impressive. Thanks to you for the info by the way, I was curious about it.

There is a guy doing the work from a crane cabin above. Thats not all the guy does though. There are tons of heavy lift operations in this business. Lifting in the VAB is just one of his certifications.

I wonder if there's a guy operating the crane hoisting that thing or if it's just a computer. I can imagine the level of freaking awesomeness a guy paid to hoist freaking space shuttles could generate.

Makes me proud to be American, now I understand why it would cost $450 million per launch of those shuttles.

    Chappelle's Show: "DOOOOOOON'T DROP THAT $H!T!!!!!!!"

lol watching the shuttle get hoisted and moved into position gives a new level of appreciation for everything NASA has done. Forget getting into space! Think about all the engineering/logistics/planning it takes just to get everything vertical!! wow!
