I would like to construct a larger version of this kite. I am trying to figure out a way that I can make it so that the kite can be taken apart for transport.

This video was very helpfull. I made the box kite using table cloth plastic which is a little stronger than dry cleaning plastic and this Kite went up just as promise. you can view my video also. youtube gitou2g. Epicfantasy did a great job explanning the steps by steps.

@FAGchannelCF You can use tyvex paper its thin like paper but strong line nylon. it's a little expensive but well worth it.

can we use something else to wrap it instead of plastic? it looks kind of plain

Can you please send me a link to where i can buy the sticks needed to build the box kite? Or the name if the sticks spelled out for me. I would greatly appreciate it :)

@nimrah1020 Good luck with your kite. The sticks are called dowels. You can buy them at any hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot. They have them at arts and crafts stores too like Michaels,

can we use something other than plastic and how strong do the winds have to be?

@FAGchannelCF You do need some wind. Doesn't have to be real strong. Box kites are deceptively easy to fly. You can try using some kind of paper. I think it would work, but might be prone to tearing.

me and my friend are working on it on sunday- can we paint pictures on it and what paint do we use on the plastic? (most suitable)- also , will it still fly if we add ribbons, gems and material roses on it? for the string part our friend used so=ewing string- will that work too? thanks!

@FAGchannelCF you have to add as little weight as possible. I would skip the gems and ribbons until it flies. Once it flies then you can add some things!
