  • I was feeding birds with stale left over bread not the bear, I have been living with black bear for 30 years with out problems, I am fully aware that feeding bears or other mammals will cause a unbalance and overpopulation problem that is happening now. In 1992 there were approx 500 black bears in Northern NJ now there are 3,500, big increase in 18 years.

  • Hi I am familiar with Vacamas that is about 12 miles south from where I live. The Black Bears have been around here alot longer then people. unlike popular belief they do not hibernate throughout winter, in this area especially males . 2 brothers were on my porch this morning knocking over a table and had to chase them away. I feel safer with Bears in my yard, because my house was robbed on 9/11/09 and do not have a dog. Bears make a good guard. In 25 years here they never caused any problem.

  • you should be fined for this .

  • @danyeo dont underestimate the mountains of NJ. Look up "bearzilla". Trapped by fish and game. He was 700 plus pounds!

  • That's big for a black bear but he's nowhere near 700lbs. Black Bears rarely grow more than 500LBS and that's probably only going to happen up in Canada. The biggest a Bear in NJ will grow is probably 350LBS, which I bet is what this Bear is.

  • no problems with black bears. they will leave us alone or run away. the dangers presented by a bear encounter is a myth propagated by the nj fish and wildlife department and hunters group. nice video.

  • That is a mauler. Bear season will bag at most 2/10 of the 3500.

  • That bear is a definite shooter. Can't wait for bear season to start!

  • feeding them isn't really a good idea. that's what gets them killed here in NJ......

  • Feeding them is so bad please don't!!

  • What is he eating?
