Yep, fond memories of summer days there with the family, A big breakfast at the Waffle Shop on Routes 30 and 41 then off to the bumper cars and the Mad Mouse.
Later I worked at Schererville Ace Hardware and would have lunch in the area and think of what a shame it was I wouldn't be able to take my kid there...
And nothing ever really took it's place either. Thanks for the post.
WOW! That brings back memories! I used to go to Kiddie Land back in the 70s & early 80s. I remember the scary rollercoaster! Kiddie Land made me fall in love with amusement parks. It's a shame they closed before my daughter could enjoy it. Thanks for the memories!
I don't know if I went to that one, but I did go to the Kiddie Land just north of rt 30 on Mississipi st. I think the red and white striped barn is still there.
I almost cried all over again watching this! I was so upset when they closed! It was one of the few happy places from being a kid. My dad would take us in the 70's once or twice a summer. I did go there after it was razed, and couldn't find anything in the rubble. I would love to have a memento or nice pic from there.
@circa1960 you are probably right considering what's in there now! There were so many acres. Wouldn't it be fun to stumble on something, though!! That whole area has changed so drastically. Good, I guess, because it was an eyesore for awhile. My youngest kids don't recall it even being there!
@hal121463 Within the last couple of years that whole property has been completely redeveloped. Although I haven't gone through there, I don't think anything is left.
When Northwest Indiana was all white and not crowded with Illinois people. If only it could have stayed that way.

How many of us remember visiting here when we were little? I miss things being simple.
