  • Beatles used to have McIntosh stuff in home in late sixties. Someone said that Paul McCartney don't buy Macs anymore. It seems he is rediscovering single-ended triodes. Do you know anything about it? Not knocking Macs. Just would like to confirm this information.

  • @TullioWalker I dunno. I'm sure Mr. McCartney could afford anything he wants. Super high end 'MBL' speakers to him, would be like most of us buying a can of soda.

  • Marantz and McIntosh sounds very cool!

  • @slapbass1982 I like the combination! Thanks for watching.

  • Generally pop musicians don't know foc's'l from futtock plate about audio. Exceptions exist. It's known that Tim "Captain Catchfire" de Paravicini has commented on the mc Unity Coupled circuit extensively-his EAR 509/549 amps use a derivation of the Mc circuit. The Yoshino products are often single ended IIRC.

  • @AudiophileTubes thank you. Yes, I agree. I am still asking many McIntosh owners to see if anyone knows anything. In fact, the information is that The Beatles bought McIntosh amps in late sixties. I'm wondering which model it was (SS or tube). It seems there is some note about it in the McIntosh book. However, I could see someone saying in a forum that he currently has an EAR Yoshino system.

  • é impressionante a qualidade do som, muito bom

  • High end refers to the equipment quality and usually the price associated with it.

"High-Fi" refers to the term "High Fidelity" for high-quality reproduction.

Hope this sheds a little clarity on your request.

  • @AudiophileTubes Understood. They aren't terms that starts at "A" and end at "B'. There is a transition, like "A, A1, A2, B1, B2, B"

  • @kynigh 'High-end' usually refers to equipment that is more expensive and esoteric than 'mid-fi' ('hi-fi') equipment like Yamaha, Onkyo, Harman-Kardon, etc. However, companies like Onkyo or Marantz either had, or currently have a 'high-end' line. For example, Onkyo used to manufacture an expensive line called 'Grand Integra', which included the much venerated M-510 amplifier. So there is some 'crossover' between 'mid-fi' and true 'high-end' even within a brand. It can be confusing.

  • @AudiophileTubes Right. The meanings of some audio terms like "high-end" or "high-fi" are a little confusing to me... which one is superior, and which equipments can be considered high-end or high-fidelity... because:

(some brand here) > mcIntosh > Marantz, H/K > Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha > Sony

    and so on...
