Oral contraceptive relief for PMDD

PMDD or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder refers to the severe mood symptoms a woman faces during the latter part of her menstrual cycle. Only within the last century have physicians recognized it as a disorder and only until recently have researchers understood its biochemical process. Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are studying oral contraceptives as a way to help alleviate whats more than a monthly nuisance.

i have this and have found relief from the pill...thing is, due to another condition i can no longer take the pill and do not qualify for an IUD, so i am worried about a) what should i expect going off the pill? b) is there anything else i can do for my pmdd or am i going to turn into a crazy person again? constructive help appreciated.

Not only are my current symptoms hell for me, they are hell for my loved ones and the people I care about most. This is a serious issue. I don't need a pitty party because I'm an emotional girl. I think people need to really take this issue seriously. pmdd can ruin your life.

I have PMDD exactly and I mean exactly 2 weeks before my period starts. I am on birth control and I dont know if the pills are making it worse. I just want to hide under my bed literally. Then the crazy thing is is when my period starts, it all goes away, like nothing ever happened. Its so weird.

i feel everyone pain. i have pmdd and i feel the lowest of the low/anger/no hope/confusion etc... my pmdd is on as we speak i feel like shit. As every other post said " Hell "!!! yes Hell on earth!

I hear ya. I'm actually having an episode now. It is hell
