The rockets were a response from Israelis killing 6 palestinians. Hamas wanted to have a peace treaty with a two-state solution in which isreal is moved back to the 1967 boarders. Isreal got scared of the palestinian peace offensive, so attacked the 6, which caused them to response. That, in turn, allowed Isreal to do what it's doing in "self-defense."

All 12 human rights reports published on this conflict, clearly debunked the Israeli propaganda and found no evidence of weapons being stored in hospitals, schools and Mosques. There was a small number of incidents in which Hamas used human shields, but so did the IDF.
