  • I remember going to the tobacco market in Eastern NC to get in line with the Old Dodge truck with my grandfather and uncle and dad and other family members and lining up at 1 or 2 in the morning to wait and unload for opening day. There would be 1000 to 2000 people there and it was truly the greatest show on earth. It was family oriented. I wish my children could experience that. The rumbling of the auctioneer, the festive atmosphere, the brotherhood of tobacco farmers. Life was great!

  • @ro876 write a book about it

  • My husband used to take me and our four children to the opening sale every year in Wilson, NC. I loved the smells and the children were always excited to watch their daddy sell the first tobacco of the season.
