  • You people see yourselves as the descendants of the pioneers and frontiersmen. Well, they only HELPED to build this country; the African slaves did the heavy lifting. Guess who cleared the land of the Native Americans so you could do your thing? The federal government. You and they attended taxpayer-financed schools. Did the government not have anything to do with the railroads? Turn off Fox News and pick up a book other than the Bible.

  • Keep digging, Phil. I'm just going to let you. All of these comments tell us a lot more about you than me.

  • When it shall be said in any country in the world, my poor are happy; neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am the friend of its happiness: when these things can be said, then may that country boast its constitution and its government. Thomas Paine, Age of Reason

  • I guess Obama was right about people clinging to their guns or maybe Rees' guns were clinging to him. You know Rees, I hear the folks over at Snuggle are developing a dryer sheet for that.

  • These people at the "tea parties" and town hall meetings have never stopped fighting to uphold slavery in this country. 140 years after they lost the Civil War, they want us all to be slaves for the corporations like the health insurers. "Don't tread on me?" Vote Rees and you'll see just how hard corporations can tread.

  • The guy with the knuckle tats is judging me for staying up late.

  • Here's something you can sip on at the next tea party: taxing employer-provided health benefits to the wealthiest Americans, according to the Congressional Budget Office, could generate as much as $500 billion a year.
