By night, the city comes alive with colour, bright lights and noise. Largely fuelled by alcohol, hordes flood the streets while others prefer the cover of darkness. In response to increasingly chaotic and animalistic behaviour, emergency services and cleaners are on hand like a fluorescent army of peace-keepers.
The light of day counterpoints that which came to pass overnight, bringing a banal sense of peace, serenity and order. There is little evidence to suggest the existence of the nocturnal playground that has given way to utility and the daily grind.
In this exhibition of 9 panels, "Like Night and Day" explores the distinct and sometimes whimsical contrasts of activity between night and day on Sydneys city streets. By presenting corresponding images in several locations focussing in and around Kings Cross and the Central Business District, the series invites examination of the finer details that are not typically considered until the differences are forced upon us.
