This classic airliner, N44V, is the restored Piedmont DC-3 owned and operated by the Carolinas Aviation Museum at Charlotte,NC(CLT).
Good example of landing gear wheel "chirp" :-)

  • My very first flight on Piedmont was on a DC 3. They were one of the last airlines to still fly props and my uncle nearly died when he say me coming off that plane in Knoxville. I flew from Raleigh to Knoxville on it. It was very exciting for me and I've loved this aircraft since. One of the toughest ever built. I still see them in service when I go abroad, often as cargo movers.

  • I flew on this same plane at a air show in Hickory back around 2000. Very cool indeed.

  • I have flown on Piedmont DC-3's back when they were part of their regular service. Back when flying on one was commonplace.

  • WOW! I've seen a Douglas DC-3 before. I think I was at the Winston-Salem airshow when I saw this along time ago. Thank you for uploading this video. My mom used to work for Piedmont Airlines back in the 1980's.

  • I've been to that museum, and seen this plane in person.

  • My first plane ride was on a Piedmont DC-3. My dad flew for Piedmont from 1953 until in he retired on the 767 International in 1989. I do miss that speedbird.

  • That excelent aircraft, DC3 is the best.... thanks Mr Douglas for this lovely plane, and thanks Mr Pratt for this lovely sound of 1830engines!!!!!
