@11thSSNordlandPzG yeah i knew that...i just thought at first you might have been one of them ppl that thought you must be a "aryan with blonde hair and blue eyes" to be in the SS....but the SS had harsh trainning inorder to get in

@11thSSNordlandPzG ???? i mentioned nothing about race. im just saying many didnt want to fight. and when they did it was to protect their country and families. many who failed W-SS training were thrown into the Heer, so there were a few bad eggs

@nick21sammy and most german soldaten enlisted their self's...and no they didnt want to be in a war but they wanted to serve their country..and for the SS it was 57% non-german volunteers and they volunteered to mainly fight the russians cause they were anti-communism and wanted to be on the strongest side during the war..and the Waffen-SS was much tougher to get in than the heer....and it had nothing to do with race either.

@uhlson7519 neither do you. most german troops were conscripted, meaning they'd be (for example) studying law at university and suddenly get a letter saying you now in the army and are to report to the nearest baracks. unless you are unfit you cannot refuse.
Many German soldiers did not want to fight but had to. those that were keen went to the W-SS, and those that didnt make it were thrown into the heer
