Fuck all the talk of Hall of Fame, and virtuosos. How many of them can make you feel like your friend is sitting next to you talking about the good times? Make you feel real?

Hmmm? I was going to say I'm impressed, but please lets leave the "Hall of Fame" out of it...

Knocking other players does you no credit. Wonder what Page and Beck think of Clapton? Let alone, say, what master session players Mitch Dalton or Hugh Burns would add. Bet they respect what he's done down the years. He's the only artist who's been inducted into the Hall of Fame three times (with Yardbirds, Cream, and in his own right). You can't fool all of the people...

Sure, but how many of them have sold about 120 million records? The band is a unit. You could add 7 virtuosos, but it doesn't mean they would make a good band.
I just meant that Bruce is unusual in that he gets his share of playing the lead. I just don't see that many bands that have 3 decent lead guitarists.
And, my guitar playing truly sucks.

This song (this performance and the song in general) is pure art. The fact that this kid from the Jersey Shore could see himself and his surroundings with this artistic insight is simply amazing. Bruce Springsteen is one of the great stories of Rock and Roll.

To say that any guitar player or musician for that matter is "better" than another is generally based on closed-minded opinions...everybody's style is unique, which generates their appeal. Guys like Springsteen, Richards, Page, have all been judged and criticized on their technical abilities and yet they're the ones selling platinum records and touring the world, rather than being confined to session work (excluding pre-Zep Page). Perhaps you don't play guitar?

Playing the guiitar is no different than pitching... it is a measurable technichal skill with elements of art. You could say "I like the way Dave Righetti throws a baseball" until the cows came home and Mariano Rivera would still be better. Finally, the selling records argument is the dumbest and most overrused argument in these discussions. Using that logic, Britney Spears is a better singer than Sarah Vaughn because she sold 50000 times as many records. I've been playing 21 years
