i've never seen Evita and i'm sure that many people like it more than Up Close & Personal (which i have seen), but it should've been Because You Loved Me that won both the Golden Globe and Academy Award. You Must Love Me is just too boring.

I agree and loads of people hate me for it. LuPone makes a better Fantine from Les Miserables than she does Eva from Evita! Even then she's not brilliant.

I agree I too think MADONNA is a Much Better EVA in Evita than Patti LuPone as Madonna's performance is sincere, real and gives you chills and Patti does just yell everything she attempts to sing. How or why she gets all the parts she does ( Patti ) is beyond me, she must know high up people in Broadway to get all the parts she is given.
