For the record, the American National Anthem "The Star Spangled Banner" was an adaptation of a British drinking song called "To Anacreon In Heaven." Even the oldest national anthem "Het Wilhemus" of the Netherlands was adapted from an older French military march. So it happens all the time ... no reason to be resentful against Israel. By the way, Samuel Cohen was born in Bessarabia, but one might say that was part of Romania.

You should be ashamed of yourself for not knowing your history. Naftali Herz Imber wrote the poem "Tikavatenu"(that would later become Hatikva) in Iasi, Romania. Samuel Cohen, the composer of the melodic line for Hatikva, was also born in Romania, and he claimed that he took it from an unidentified Romanian folk song. The most resembling Romanian folk songs with Hatikva are "Cucuruz cu frunza-n sus"(this one) and "Carul cu boi"(search it). Inform yourself before insulting.
