I keep replying but the reply is never posted. Here it is again-I would not be so disappointed with Liane's turn to love "ballads" if it were not for the loss of her perfectly suited voice for jazz especially when there are so few contemporary jazz singers with her talent to interpret jazz and blues with a pop influence. She makes jazz accessible to a contemporary audience in a way similar to Swing Out Sister and some others, but Liane really captures the original feel of jazz much better.

Let me try this again, I think Liane's earlier work as well as her more natural appearance was far superior to the direction she took in the late 1990's. I think the move away from jazz was a real loss.

Well,I am going to take a minority view here, but I do not care for this type of music...it seems more like a meandering song without a melody or rhythm...something like Barbra Streisand or Whitney Houston would sing rather than the jazzy pop that Liane sang in the 80's and early 1990's. I love Liane's jazz performances. It is a shame that she has moved away from much better quality popular jazz music. Her appearance is also not as attractive or as French in these later videos-disappointing.

I may say some will like her past work, however, I prefer something like Barbra or Whitney as you said. It would mean kinda sentimental little way to sing as in romantic songs with wide expression of feelings and
this is what I love the most. But I respect
