Doing a search of all its occurences shows clearly that is used exclusively for the Lord GOD of Israel, exceptions, Deu32:37, trust in idols, Jud9:15, trust in Abimelech, Isa30:2, trust in Egypt. If God is asking to put our trust in His Son, it is because he is also God.
