I think that you should make some plastic windows so you can light the interior.

I do. Mind you I don't always light them.

This set of videos were made for a young fellow who wanted to know how to make quick, cheap, and easy(ish) ones.

That is what I use "grass green" with a bit of dark flock added in.

Then I paint watered down glue on to the edge of the roof with a small paint brush and where ever else I want moss and just sprinkle the flock on while it is wet.

Steve, love your work. The 15mm FoW house demo is great. Thanks for demoing the shingles. I do something very similar in 28mm for medieval manor houses and fantasy stuff. Good to see you getting back to showing us how to do stuff.
