@DalonCole My faqvorite idiot presidential management is that during rolling thunder with the B-52s bombing Hanoi and all the previous targets that were "off limits' that the North Vietnamese were running out of SAMs and after few days it would have been free skies over the north. The North knew they were hurting badly and agreed to go back to the bargaining table and Johnson called off the strikes. How stupid was that. Or what if they had bombed like that 4 years earlier. Stupid politicians.

My favorite part of the "War" were the rules of engagement our air forces were forced to fight under. We could not bomb airfields or SAM sites because we were afraid that we might kill Soviet/Chinese/Cuban Technical Advisors and thusly offend those nations. Even thoough none of those nations would even admit to having advisers present. It was like the whole war effort was one huge deleted scene from "How I Learned to Love the Bomb".

@DalonCole I agree & add that Washington wanted a long drawn out undeclared war.If at war EVERYBODY is going, no rich boy deferrments,champagne national guard unit assignments,etc.Johnson is on tape saying"Get me re-elected and I'll get you your war(before 64 election) and used a fabricated attack(Gulf of Tonkin) to increase our prescence & provide means for big oil,construction,DoD manufacturers,etc to make money.NOBODY fights w/ 1 hand behind their back & agrees to only hit certain places
