A small number of elderly South Koreans are preparing to cross the border into North Korea for a family meeting more than half a century in the making. As VOA's Kurt Achin reports, the Korean division that pulled their family apart also creates the conditions for a less-than-ideal reunion.

  • how could you deny a 90 year old a chance to spend three days with their families? thats insane! they're likely to die before they even get a chance to see at least if their families are evn alive. its sad that n. koreans say blah blah respect for the elderly but they deny them something that is rightfully theirs: a good-bye to family. i know s.korea is trying, but something needs to be done, kim jung il needs to go. Like now.

  • Without sounding racist, has anyone else noticed that when Asians age, they go from looking relatively young until they're around 55ish and then they look really, really old?
