  • Yeah lets help gang members with their tattoo problems, then maybe they''ll get back into our society and murder a couple of us.

  • It's to help FORMER gang members. People should be encouraging this.

  • Yes it's pork, but pork isn't always bad, like... oh I dunno, when you're helping people get out of gangs!

  • Exactly. Earmarks aren't always evil. Sometimes they may not be necessary, but they definitely aren't useless.

  • Well I guess they can just be happy with gov't handouts. Or do for themselves and stop looking for excuses. Would if they have one leg? would if they can't see? Would if they can't spell? Would if the world ends tom.? etc, etc, etc. Better yet, how about they take a shitty job to get rid of their tattoos and then apply for a better one. We all have done it.

  • civil servant is just one type of job. Heck people who pick up trash are civil servants since they are employed by the municipality. Not everyone can become entrepreneurs such as yourself. and visible gang related tattoos can and will limit job opportunities. What if one of those men don't want to do the same job as you? What if they want to be teachers? Or social workers? or get into Law? Getting rid of those tattoos opens up so many doors that would otherwise remain closed.

  • Some good points, but again "civil servant", stop being or trying to be the governments SERVANT. Do for yourself. Even if its a paper route. I started our bus. picking up garbage off the streets 20 years ago in our last recession. Now I employee 20 good people. Anyone can make excuses, make it on your own.

  • I understand your argument, it's good that the place you work doesn't care about your tattoos but that's not always the same case in other jobs. Especially civil servant jobs. You could have all the qualifications but those tattoos are going to leave a very negative first impression. Also I would find the idea of this program more comforting to people trying to get out of that life- like someone actually cares for them. Give the nuns their needles- if not, they'll probably get donations anyway.

  • If you got a tattoo on your forehead maybe you don't need that JORB, just help. Should we really pay for every mistake people make? Almost everyone who works in my bus. has them including me. Thats 21 people and most of them have been here for 10 years or longer. 3 of them was down for 10 years. Don't look to your gov't to help you, help yourself.

  • LMFAO!!!!! That is the best way to put it.

  • clean long sleeves and a job application is one thing but when you go into the interview with a swastika on your forehead (or any other gang or racial tattoos)

.... you're not getting the jorb

  • Helping people is great but I think a clean long sleeve shirt and a job application would work better
