what is conjunctivitis?
Conjunctivitis or pink eye (also called "Madras eye"[1]) is an acute inflammation of the conjunctiva (the outermost layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids), most commonly due to an allergic reaction or an infection (usually viral, but sometimes bacterial[2]). While this article relates generally to humans, animals such as canines (dogs) and cattle can experience this condition.

Chloromycetin (chloramphenicol)
How does it work?

Chloromycetin eye drops (Redidrops) and Chloromycetin eye ointment both contain the active ingredient chloramphenicol, which is a type of medicine called an antibiotic. Antibiotics are used to treat infections caused by bacteria. (NB. Chloramphenicol eye drops and ointment are also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.)
