Kevin Lake, author of OFF SWITCH, talks with The PTSD Retreat Radio Talk Show about his book and PTSD. This is an amazing individual who spent time in Iraq as an Army enlisted individual and his story is very moving. if you have a loved one dealing with PTSD, I encourage you to read his book for his common sense approach to dealing with individuals with PTSD. While his book is fictitious, he writes from personal experience and based on his and his buddies experiences. This interview will open your eyes to some of the "isms" of PTSD, from the personal perspective of Kevin as well as Nicole.

I just finished reading Kevin Lakes' newest book, Off Switch, and I am stunned. I am an avid reader, but never have I had the feelings that I have after reading this novel. I cried tears of sadness, pain, anger, and humiliation. Humiliation that "my" country would let unheard of things like this happen. Kevin has gone overboard to bare his soul and share his experiences with us. This is a MUST READ for everyone. (cont. on Amazon)

Have you ever wondered why so many returning veterans who suffer with P.T.S.D. are not getting any help, and why so many of them end up committing suicide? If you actually want to know the answer, and you don't want to hide from it and pretend that everything is fine, then this novel is for you.

Don't expect to remain unchanged by reading it. It will stay with you.

This book could profoundly effect the way you think about military service and the human cost of war. I could not put it down and thus read it, through my tears, in one sitting. I wish everyone who supports our nation's troops (and, perhaps especially, those who do not)could read this novel, based on the disturbing experiences of one who served in Iraq. It has given me new insight into my own father's experiences in World War II...

..."Off Switch" is particularly touching because it speaks of his personal experience so poignantly. Though this is a work of fiction, Kevin actually stood in the shoes of this returning vet. His words are very telling of the pain these soldiers experience, not just in deployment, but arguably more so in their homecoming. Please take the opportunity to more completely empathize with our honored heroes by buying and reading this book. You'll be glad you did.

Just finished "Off Switch" by Kevin E. Lake..a very emotional and deep book about PTSD. Anyone who has ever known someone suffering from this as a result of war (my folks were Viet Nam vets) or other causes (and, yes, you can suffer from this for many reasons), should read this book. The book relies heavily, I believe, on experiences of the author... (cont. on Amazon)...

Just finished reading this, yesterday. Lake does a great job at making the characters believable and compelling. The afterword was the hardest to read, not because it was poorly written, but because it is horrifying!

I'm a military mom - I support our troops; I volunteer with wounded warriors. I so appreciate the sacrifice our military and their families make. I really have a heart, a burden or whatever you want to call it, for those with combat PTSD and for the families trying their best to support them. Kevin Lake's book, "Off Switch" is such a profound book that really will stay with you. And it should... (cont. on Amazon)...
