I capture and edit the wonderful new add on from www.justtrains.net...

Five of the worlds most famous A4 Pacific steam engines are presented here in all their glory, with six authentic liveries and accurate detail variations across the eleven drivable locomotives. These include single and twin chimney stacks, with and without headboards, streamlined side fairings, un-valanced models, corridor and non-corridor tenders.

First run in 1935, the 4-6-2 A4 Pacific Class of streamlined locomotives were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and represent the pinnacle of British steam trains. The record breaking Mallard is probably the best known steam train in the world and it is joined by the Bittern, Silver Link, Sir Nigel Gresley and Union of South Africa.

  • Still a bit too "cartoony."

  • @paullubliner When the free RailWorks3 update is released in less than a month, the graphics receive a pretty major revamp.

  • @glidem: Well done models are to be preferred regardless. After the newness of this "sim" nonsense wears off, the viewing of an object with one's own eyes will once again take precedence. The rapidly diminishing popularity of plotless primarily CGI movies are offered proof of this. Stories are once again becoming a requirement.

  • @paullubliner I don't see why both real models and computer generated models can't be both enjoyed. Both have advantages and disadvantages, but I see no reason why you should discount another preference entirely.

  • @glidem Because this form of diversion will disappear as do all "Fads." The popularity of fads is primarily due to there being a minimal required input by the user. The better the programming gets with time, the increasingly less effort required with diminished involvement by the user with a resulting and rapid boredom ensuing . Okay?

  • @paullubliner This so called 'diversion' of yours is proving very popular and I see it only growing more and more in time. It will become rapidly more realistic in both looks and operation and I am sure the vast majority of rail enthusiasts will get a buzz from the experience for years to come.

  • Glad I saw this before I spent my hard earned cash on what seems to be a good idea...but what is wrong with these trains as they shudder and stutter along the tracks?...OR is it that computer that the program is running on is just not up to it ?......It looks like the designers of this have a long way to go to sort this problem out ?...I will just have to stick with "Trainz" for the time being...good grief !

  • @crobertson22 I'm sure there is a Duchess pack. I have also played on one which had a collection of A3s and A4s in LNER as well as BR liveries, but I cannot remember the name of it. Hope that little bit of information helps.

  • has anyone got this want to knw if its any good Great British Steam Locomotives Add-On for MS Train Simulator

  • @smellyduckz The issue for me is as you've pointed out: "played with." Railway Enthusiasts have enough bad image/press with the general public that I for one care about reducing. Otherwise, it will not be long before mainline steam operations will be so frowned upon as to be banned. That would leave only preserved line operations, old videos and this "stuff." In my opinion, this nonsense especially dispersed as here on You Tube seriously adds to that negative public image.

  • @paullubliner Have you played Railworks? It's more like a train set than a train spotter sim, build your own tracks and build a big network of classic trains on it, fantastic! Cheaper than a Hornby set and I don't need free space in my house!

  • @glidem: Only in your opinion. Actual film (or video) is much to be preferred. "Anoraks" already have a pitiful reputation. This will nonsense only (dis) embellish that reputation further.
