the last days of 999 &1116 Valleys Radio. Closed on April 30th 2009 Featuring Karen Brown, Tony Peters and Mark Powell With Sharon Jones and Steve Barnes
Mark Powell brought professionalism back to Valleys Breakfast show.
Waking up to Steve Powell was like listening to chalk screeching down a blackboard. I pity the rest of the team having to try to pick up an audience after the drivel Steve Powell called a Breakfast show.
Well Tony, you said watch this video and I have. It's now added to my favourite list. Although distant from us, we did listen online sometimes and when we were on holiday in Bridgewater, we managed to pick you up there too loud and clear. This video shows how you all put your hearts into that staion and how sad you were at its closure. Bought a lump to our throats watching it. What an excellent track to play out on. It just says it all doesn't it.
Hey there chaps. Wanted to say how sorry I was to hear what happened. Its such a pity. Although I live abroad I was well aware of Valleys and its history. I worked at the Garden Festival site for the BBC programme 'Summer Scene' many years ago...its a pity to see that the energy of the place then has diminished so much more with the closure of Valleys.
I always listened to valleys when we were on holiday in the brecon beacons. The ebbw vale transmitter (1116) could sometimes be heard even here in germany even with all the interferences from the other transmitters in russia and italy. Valleys was local radio just as it should be, made by locals, with locals, for locals.
a sad day that should never of happened! thank you all the dj"s and staff no matter what valleys radio will live on in the hearts of us valleys people!
