@bahilmes There is a difference. Actors are performing lines they just learned. Athletes are performing on a high physical level. McD's is not even comparable to a stage musician. This is a song. It is basically written one way. The lyrics go one way. Excuse him all you like, but botching an entire verse is uncalled for.

@mathprodigy All of the best musicians have messed up singing their own lyrics many times. Just do a search on youtube and you'll see many examples. Sammy Haggar, Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Johnny Cash, etc... I'm sure you've messed up at your job a few times and still got paid. For you to say that it is "unacceptable" is hypocritical. Football players fumble, baseball players strike out, Actors forget lines, & the dude at McD's always screws up my order. It happens. Move on

Todd was a bit messed up, and forgot words to more than a few songs ... but, the sound guy also pissed him off early on in the show. His sound was shit all night and I can say it distracted the crap out of him. Was my girlfriends first Todd show ... and she truly felt it was her fault that he forgot words to the songs because of those flowers. Dozens of shows later, she still will not hand him flowers again ... So for us this was a memorable evening.

I never have understood those that criticize another persons talent, when it's obvious they have none themselves. Or those people that go to a live performance and bitch because it did not sound exactly like the album ..WTF?? I was at the Great American Music Hall the evening of this show. Also my girlfriend at the time is part of the reason that he stumbled with a verse or two. Just before this video starts my girlfriend handed him flowers and requested this song. Was not on his playlist

Their are many performers who never play a song the same and that's fine with me. If your goin to bitch about it, then just don't listen to them perform.

Guys, I realize it's his song. It sounds like he just straight up messed up. Obviously, people aren't perfect. But, if he indeed messed up, especially on something as simple as lyrics to your own song, then to me, that is just unacceptable, considering he is a professional performer getting paid to PERFORM.

@mathprodigy It's his song and he entertained me with it. Stevie Ray never played a song the same once.
I reckon if he wants to drop, add or change a stanza, he can. It's his song, after all, and he can 'screw it up' if he wants. Either way, a masterful song and story.
As to the 'stoned' part? Who cares?

Did he just sing a verse twice? And he skipped another! Still a good song.
