Every group wants to control a person's thought. Also if you want to live in a community that expresses your ideals then you have to give them the same respect and respect their communities. You can not banish what you call racists to the netherworld because that would make you the racist and the very thing that you claim to fight.

@whitewolfheathen Not trying to banish racist. What I'm supporting is letting people set up their own communities w/ their own rules. If that means a community won't let me in, then I stay out of that community. Then you won't have the problems w/ forced association.

Fighting fundamentalism expresses fundamental beliefs of your own. You are using the same veracity to fight your opponent, yet you say that they are fundamentalist when you are one yourself. Perhaps it is necessary to think through the verbage of your labels. Also all people make controlling laws, that is the nature of law to control.

@whitewolfheathen How is fighting fundamentalism fundamentalist? Now, if I were to pick out fundamentalists and make a point of picking fights, that's one thing, but wanting to prevent them from assuming political power by fighting their ideas is another.

So like when if your daughter gets pregnant and then at their high school can go and have an abortion without the parent ever knowing? Yes, this does happen. Freedom of religion allows a fundamentalist to vote our ethics formed by our religion. So we are not allowed to vote our conscience because you disagree? Where is the freedom of conscience liberals are standing for? Kind of like communists rounded up in Macarthyism?

one other thing too, if the forced oppression ever gets it's hold, the U.S. will be no better than Iraq or Afganistan where their women have no rights at all (taliban is a good example of this)

Me and my husband both believe that the US should vote in an athiest, one who can keep Religion and Politics separate, but that will be the day won't it? lol. Religion needs to stay out of politics, you can't have a place ran by fundies, and hope that everything is going to be ok. there are no "parties" that do what you are asking about BUT, there are activist groups that do fight for the rights of women, human rights, as well religious rights. If there was a party it would probably end up being an individual party (but as we've seen here they usually don't last long in the runnings).

Now the Green Party fights for the earth, but like individual parties they usually don't last long either.

This type of oppression needs to be fought back against because it's just another chip at erroding womens' rights and eventually it will lead to the erosion of human rights & anyone who doesn't think that is deluding themselves. Fundamentalism of any kind is NOT healthy for any society. There needs to be balance, there needs to be freedome of choice - especially for women. I don't know that such a party exists. We're going to have to do it ourselvs.
