Oh companies make profits to give people jobs, why the hell do we have millionaires. I mean if they use all that money to hire why would there be unemployment.

How would people get medicine if we didn't have this companies? Well I could answer a with a LOT of possibilities, but just think how did people managed to take of their health issues before the capitalist system existed. I mean there was a time where companies didn't existed. I hope you know this...

A company making money on a product is fine. Yes, it supports research and innovation, and usually the reputable companies do a good job in testing.

The downside? First of all there is no emphasis to actually 'cure' a disease - only control it. If you really cured anything you would lose customers and hence profits. Secondly, you've got to market the damn stuff so you've got a huge budget for that, which is paid by guess who?? You must also work on doctors and insurance to prescribe it more.
