A documentary on the problems of presenting fairies and magic in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on the stage.
This clip starts with a long discussion of how fairies in the play are presented, then Jonathan Miller explains why he used older actors in his production at the Almeida Theater.
scenes from several productions are shown, with long excerpts from the Peter Brook's famous 1970 "White Box" production with the RSC. Other productions shown in snippets are:
The Ninagawa Company (1995)
RSC production from 1994
BBC (1981)
Almeida Theater
interview clips with:
Penelope Rixon
Peter Brook
Jonathan Miller
Rachel Kavanaugh
Tony Gash, head of Drama, University of East Anglia

@YAHWEHisperfect Weren't Jesus's miracles magic? I mean what's the difference between a miracle and magic? And as for the world of imagination being where satan devours his victims, there seems to be a fair amount of imagination in the bible.
