Every night at 8pm, the people of Ypres, Belgium, stop to honour those who fell in WWI. This was the emotional highlight of my trip to Europe in May 2006.

  • Then I hope my country (Belgium) has made it clear to you that we greatly respect what your country (and others) has done for us. We will never forget!

  • The day will come when another great war is upon us. Let us hope we are able to muster the fighting spirit again. Or we shall be forever enslaved to the enemy.

  • as a canadian, i'm proud of all our boys who fought for belgium and france. poor bastards drowning in mud, choking on gas... they shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old. age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. at the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.

  • Belgium will never forget!

  • i think in belgium, were very gratefull to all our soldiers, french, british and american soldiers who fell for our freedom. This is a sign of respect towards the people who lost a friend, a familymember or someone else in every war. But mostly in the worldwars...
