Six Feet Under Opening Sequence

The wonderful HBO series by Alan Ball had a superb opening that I looked forward to each week while the series was on.

This is one of THE BEST shows of all time without any exaggeration, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time in my life either. I'm 24, confused about everything, feeling stuck in life, and everything feels dead and fake to me, but this show gives me hope, and a whole new perspective to life. I love this family so much, and can relate to every main character so much, which I can tell the writers really wanted you to. This show is genius, underrated, smart, beautiful. It is perfection.

I watched this show with my mom when I was around six. Not realizing that Micheal C. Hall was in this, but discovered that he was about a couple months into watching Dexter.

Every time I hear this theme, I'm taken back in time to when I lived with a certain person and we looked forward all week long to the next episode. Once the show started, we'd get a little high and relax together while we laughed, cried, and related to the experiences of the characters.

The memory relaxes me and makes me a little sad, because our lives are totally separate and totally different now.

Incredible show, but goddamn Seasons 3 and 4 are a chore to get through. Even Season 5 is just too dramatic at times. Thankfully, the ending more than makes up for it.

Seasons 1&2 FTW. The only better show out there is The Wire.

On the other hand I found many of the characters to be annoyingly melodramatic. I wouldn't say that this takes anything away from the quality of the writing though, it's just that I personally found their constant bickering to be exasperating. A typical picture of a dysfunctional middle-class family doing their best to pull together yet each confused and struggling with their own circumstances. Intelligent yet still vaguely depressing and hard to watch at times.

I watched the first two seasons of this and thought certain aspects of the storylines were very cleverly thought out. I liked the way that they explored the characters through their imagination & fantasies and all the various sub plots and themes that run throughout.
