@dma251 when i worked at depot we dynoed them at 3300 rpm yessir that detroit sure can scream lol we had a cw4 run one with mogas that was an awesome sight the new a4s with a c15 can move better than a turned up detroit and they are much more comfortable

this thing is so freaking cool, and yeah how much did you pay for this if you don't mind me asking? i can imagine that it was pretty hard to get it authorized for public road use in the US.

i drive a m984a4 wrecker it's bad ass cat c-15 air ride suspension and A/C..but yea i heard the basic models was not govern and could do 80..i drove a 915a4 with a cumming ntc-400 that was not govern down the pa turnpike doing 85-90 bob tailing

@dma251 the ones we drive in the army never make it past 60 mph. the ones in iraq couldnt get past 55mph, up armored an all.
-
@MrJonmyers your not a very safe driver......and your speedo wasnt working properly.........oshkosh themselves only claim 65mph top speed and manufacturer's claims are usauly exaggerated to look better than real life capabillities
-
@Alisterwolf66 Er... "in the AOR", I mean.
-
@dma251 They can, but you have to open the governor up a bit. Run 'em to 2600rpm instead of the factory 2250, they'll do 75-ish.
*grins* I'd know. My unit had the fastest 984A1 AOR after I 'took a few liberties' with ours. Got a bigger set of marine injectors (don't recall the size anymore... N90s? 105s?), as well. Figured that was our convoy recovery truck, so it needed to keep up with the M915A3s!
Anyway, excellent job on your 977! Sounds great, looks immaculate!

i just saw ur other two vid's and these trucks are awsome...i live in PA and at the one of the national gaurd bases they have these trucks....and they are beasts even if there not moving....i hope one day i can get one of these trucks...i was looking at tatara's 8x8 and their pretty cool...but i like these alot more...i hope u have more cool vid's on ur truck and other like it..keep up the good work!!!
I can tell you for a fact that a hemtt will do over 80 mph. Been there done that in the mountains of washington. Haul ass up the hill at 70-75 and crest the hill take it into neutral and it will get well over 80.. To anyone who says it cant youre full of shit and have never driven one..Oh and by the way mine was loaded full of high explosives coming from Ft.Lewis going to Yakima training grounds..

@MrJonmyers
I will say it again.... These speed claims are bullshit unless you show me a GPS speedometer. I have done this, and a HEMTT M977 with 8V92 Detroit WILL NOT go up a hill at 75 mph. Say what you will, but having owned one, I say it's typical exaggeration from people that are expecting that the antique-design speedo is telling them the truth. I see it all the time in the watercraft circles. Wishful thinking....

The HEMTT can go even up to the 75mph. I already tested in my old Army Reserve unit in Puerto Rico going from noth to south. The only problem is that bounces like crazy.

The problem I have with most of these speed claims, is the same as what I used to encounter when involved in racing boats. Everyone has made their Bayliner go 70 mph... ....According to the speedometer.
Thing is, the speedometer in these trucks, and Bayliners, are not accurate at all. To make any real accurate speed claims, you need to have a gps-based speedometer. I have done this, and I can say with total confidence that it is highly unlikely a Hemtt made it past about 70 mph.
