  • @CEWJS an Chelsea fan would only take offence to that because (subjectively or not) because he thought being an Arsenal fan was bad, compeering that to calling CM gay implies you think he's homophobic

  • @255ad Being a professional philosopher entails studying, writing and teaching philosophy. Strictly speaking though, I am actually a theologian, but a lot of what I do directly contributes to, and draws from, philosophy. The only major difference really between theologians and philosophers is that the work of theologians primarily contributes to the Church, while the work of philosophers primarily contributes to universities.

  • @255ad No, the implication being that Matthew is someone to be made fun of by teasing him about being something he is not. It's similar to how one might make fun of a Chelsea fan by implying that they were an Arsenal fan. There is nothing objectively wrong with being an Arsenal fan, but subjectively, to the Chelsea fan, there is, because it is not his preference.

  • @CEWJS "I was just making a little fun to be honest" the implication being that homosexuality is something to be made fun of

"I am actually a professional philosopher myself" what does that entail exactly, I've always wondered?

  • @255ad No I didn't, all I did was point it out. If you read what I said I was only ever making observations, never criticisms. Funny thing is though, I am actually a professional philosopher myself, and concurrently not a homosexual. So I am well aware that one doesn't necessarily follow from the other. I was just making a little fun to be honest, and being that Matthew admits to be a fairly socially progressive guy, I figured he wouldn't take any offence at me joking about his sexuality.

  • @CEWJS

your the one suggesting it was a negative

  • @255ad "gay = a criticism" how anti homosexual of you.

  • @CEWJS their identical twins.....no joke

"philosophy student = gay" how anti intellectual of you

  • @reszzz Yes I still think there may be some wisdom in my assessment of these two, even though there is that one fatal flaw in my logic.
