I use Windows Movie Maker, and seeing as it's my first try, things are a tad bit choppy. There aren't a lot of effects because 1. I don't have many and 2. I don't know how to effectively use some of them. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

if you split your clip then put fade in from white or black or the fade out buttons, you'll get flashes.and if you split it, but you keep it on it will play like you didn't split it.

yup, i figured that out in my second vid, because I was blind and didn't see that there was a button to split the clip where you want it rather than doing it manually =P

For a first video, this is brilliant. You were brave enough to actually put in effects and not to overdo them. My first video was rubbish on comparison to this. I really enjoyed watching this. Well done. ^^
