My homemade plasma globe, made entirely from recycled parts. Driving an incandescent light bulb with a flyback transformer, power draw in the 100W range. The flyback came from a junk tv I found on the side of the road, the power transistors came from a dead car audio amplifier (120Vce, 10A, PNP's). In the video you can easily see the plasma which glows orange due to the high current(purple at low current), and gets hot enough to score the glass, burn the ground wire, and leave a nice trail of smoke. The circuit is driven with two 12V SLA's in series. This circuit can't be run for long due to the transistor heatsinks getting extremely hot (need larger heatsinks and a cooling fan to allow the circuit to run in continuous mode).
