"HEALTH HAS NO BORDERS - PLANNED PARENTHOOD - NARRATED BY CONNIE BRITTON" - PLANNED PARENTHOOD
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

Two hundred and fifteen million women around the world want to plan or avoid pregnancy but lack access to modern contraceptive methods. In poorer countries, where family planning services are not readily available, young and rural women must often suffer harsh consequences. Young women, who are unable to prevent pregnancy, are forced to drop out of school. Many women have more children than they can afford. Unsafe abortion and maternal deaths increase. So more children grow up in households without mothers.

All of these health consequences put a financial strain on families and make it harder for developing countries to promote healthy, peaceful and prosperous societies.

But when these countries have access to family planning, the picture completely changes. There are fewer unintended pregnancies, which means fewer complicated pregnancies and unsafe abortions and ultimately less pregnancy-related deaths. Women have more time and resources to care for children they already have. And women then are more likely to stay in school, pursue careers and contribute to the local economy. And thriving local economies will eventually lead to political stability and healthier families.

The U.S. is a leading source of support for many global health programs, including contraception, and has been for 40 years. But when U.S. funding is cut, women all over the world feel its impact with restricted access to contraceptives and the closing of clinics.
Now this is where you come in.

Congress decides how this money is allocated. But Congress also represents YOU. When you tell your representative in Congress that women's health is important to you, you empower your representative to support international family planning programs, which lead to fewer unplanned pregnancies, more women in schools and jobs, and ultimately, healthier and stronger futures for all.

Sign your name to Planned Parenthood's "Health Has No Borders" petition to show your support for robust investments in global health and the elimination of disparities everywhere.

When it comes to health, there should be no borders.

PP says "fewer unplanned pregnancies" (e.g., 1000 vs 50, given a 5% failure rate). HUGE. Very little attention seems to be paid to the 950 kids born to moms who, if given a choice, would not get pregnant (usually again). Imagine the suffering millions of children experience every day (yes, in the USA, too) because their mothers are unable to provide adequate love, food and protection to them. How about giving the mother the chance to do the best she can with the pregnancies she wants?

yes exactly 2-9% is way lower than the 85 % than would get pregnant from using nothing. Were you dropped as a child?

Using a contraceptive method and using it correctly and consistently are two different things. Contraceptives are low cost and abortions are 100% free in Canada, but unlike the U.S we have one of the lowest abortion rates on the planet. So yes I would say that more contraception = less abortions does work. You aren't taking into account that you have high cost contraceptives and abstinence only education teaching people nothing on how to use them.

sorry for not wanting children but still wanting a a loving healthy relationship with my partner. It's pretty fucked up that you think sex is just about an orgasm, and not about intimacy, affection and bonding with the person you love.

Over 25 million people have died from AIDS which is more than everybody killed in the Nazi Holocost. Planned Parenthood is a politically powerful greedy rich atheist owned corporation that peddles birth control pills and abortion for stupid unsafe sex that does not make babies to take care off the elderly and is objectively nothing but masturbating with a pointless risk of death by AIDS. If you don't want kids masturbate and you're getting the same sexual orgasm without paying any money for it.

America is the world's leading food producer. We in fact need population growth everywhere on Earth because that's more customers we can sell food, Johnny Depp movies, and everything else we produce to and a larger labor pool we benefit from having more choice in who we choose buy goods and services from at the best prices and quality instead of being forced to do business with greedy price fixing monopolies without competition exploiting us.

Guttmacher Institute report, from August of 2011, and I qoute "54% of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the condom or the pill) during the month they became pregnant". Despite evidence that your philosophies of contraception=less abortions do not work, that the American family is breaking down, that women are more than ever left to care for children on their own without the fathers of their children, you still shove this ANTI-woman rhetoric down our throats.
