One of the standard tools that our DMP FLO Suite provides for catalog creation is the Composition Page. This tool is aimed at semi-technical users, or at least users who can get a small training (typically no more than an hour or two) on how to use it.

The composition tool allows (within certain limitations imposed by the administrator) for content to be dragged on a page. Content can include Creative files (supplied PDF articles, editorial pages, images ) from the digital asset management module, but it can also consist of a combination of a record/InDesign template/language. Changing data in the record (a product, an employee, a promotion, whatever you desire) also refreshes the preview in the page.
Output of the Composition Job can be a PDF file or an InDesign package. If the templates used for the product blocks are InDesign templates then the individual page objects are preserved. This means that the output can still be changed manually in InDesign.
