14-year-olds are recruited into the Army through the JROTC with the hopes of college money and a career. But when our soldiers come back from war, they face a back-logged Veterans Affairs Department, and can't get the health care and other help they need. This documentary take a look at the U.S. war machine through the eyes of Veterans and JROTC cadets. It also looks at how veterans of past wars are forced to compete for services with veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Some footage is courtesy of Iraq Veterans Against the War, at IVAW.org. More information about IndyVideo can be found at www.indypendent.org.
The point of the video is to get ROTC out of schools. They pitch phrases like "illegal war" and other catch phrases, but offer no compelling reason. I'm unimpressed. They make these promising young people out to be naieve, and want our army to be a social club. That is propaganda. Mr. Wright may have a legitimate claim, but he's associating with some icky people. My nephew is in Iraq. He sees the difference from before Saddam. This war isn't useless.

IVAW kicked out Jesse MacBeth as soon as they found out he was a punk ass fraud, and then they put new checks in place to make sure it cant happen again, is that all you have, MacBeth, seriously! Im in IVAW, I served in the Marines and the Army as an infantryman, this isnt a partisan, left/right, issue, our military and our vets are being betrayed by our government. And 25% of homeless in the US are veterans, including over 2000 iraq era vets, its more than just lazy people, something is wrong

You really think this homeless vet with disabilities is going to be able to find a job in this economy? His interview pretty much establishes that he is trying to get help and cant.

If all you want is a free ride to college, free health care and you don't want to give back, stay out of the armed forces - America doesn't need people like you to protect the country. I don't know what happened to homeless guy, but there are social services to help get him back on his feet, get him meds and get him a job. He's not telling the whole story. Protecting the country is noble, but nobody gets a free ride. Many of my relatives are vets and are upstanding hard working people.
