Live performance by 3Play+ Featuring Mick Goodrick on Guitar Lello Molinari on Bass Josh Rosen on Piano and Ralph Rosen on Drums. Recorded March 1st 2004
i think it's mediocre, but i can't usually do much better myself...it's what could be done at the time i guess. could use more feeling, less "standard jazz shit"...everybody's a damn critic including me!
Well, I think he plays great on this one, although I've heard him play better. I'm not sure about the motivic development thing, though. I can hear a lot of motivic development, in terms of repeating the rhythmic content of certain phrases (of course, not always consecutively), note choices, repeating the shape of the certain phrases without relying on the same melodic content, permutations of motivs etc.
hmh, not so sure about this one. i'm a huge admirer of mr. goodricks abilities as both guitarist and teacher (the advancing guitarist as imho a MUST for every, well... advancing guitarist). here, he lacks a bit in terms of motivic development, at least in my opinion. i've heard him play better than this, to be quite honest. still, even when he's not at his peak, he's still head and shoulders above the rest (and certainly me).
