Salaam alaikum everyone,
Ramadan is only about a month away! Since this will be my third Ramadan, insh'Allah, I thought I would make a video with some tips. Insh'Allah this will be helpful to any brothers and sisters out there who have never fasted before, and hopefully, insh'Allah, it will serve as a reminder to the rest of us, because sometimes we forget ^_^
Nasheeds I used:
Welcome O Ramadan - Zain Bikha
Ramadan - Mishary al Arada
We've Sighted the Moon - Dawud Wharnsby Ali

  • I understand ramadan is a ritual that is used to teach 'self-restraint' and I'm interested in this.

I understand that during ramadan at dawn no consumption of animals is allowed or even plants. But people can consume water and smoke? Then around 7:27 pm (today for instance) you prey. Then at 7:30 you pray on 'fresh lamb'? Then the cycle resumes again. In short, no eating beasts until night time and deprive yourself of the opportunities for diseases of affluence while fasting.

  • hello, I'm glad you're interested in Ramadan

well, I'm not really sure where you got your information from, but you're around 25% correct. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims believe that God has commanded them to fast from dawn until dusk. During the daylight hours, we do not eat, or drink ANYTHING (even water). We cannot have sex, even with our spouse, or smoke, or swear, as these all negate our fast. Smoking and swearing are considered sinful anyways, but especially during Ramadan.

  • Muslims pray five times a day, once at the break of dawn, once shortly after the sun has passed through the zenith of the sky, once in the afternoon, once when the sun sets (this is when we break our fast), and once at night. As for the "fresh lamb," I think you're confusing Ramadan with Eid al Adha, which commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham(as). We can have lamb for iftar (the meal) but also many MANY other things as well. We break our fast with either water or a date (the fruit).

  • MashaAllah a nice video sister, I just have to agree with one thing "gagmagag80" said.. its not advisable to take a nap after asr but rather after dhuhr, meaning BETWEEN DHUHR AND ASR. It is also a sunnah. May Allah reward you and all fasting brothers and sisters , and help all of us practice our religion the right way so that Allah swt is satisfied with us ameen

  • Ameen ameen! Jazak Allah khair for correcting me...I had no idea! But alhamdolillah now I do :) Anyways, thank you so much for teaching me something new (alhamdolillah I always try to learn at least one new thing pertaining to Islam a day). Ramadan Mubarak!

  • Salaam aleikun sister, the song between 3:53-6:25 lighten up my room,it is like am being blessed and also being welcome to al janat.

Could you please tell me where i can get the full part of the song?.

  • wa alaikum salaam brother, this beautiful nasheed is called "Ramadan" by Mishary al Arada. Insh'Allah, I can email it to you, if you'd like.

  • alhamdulillah.. thanks for sharing

  • your 3rd ramadhan? oh, so you're a new muslim

  • Thank you for your very simple yet detailed advice and tips, i hope you don't mind me sharing some of your words and inshAllah you'll have the ajir for whenever anyone else reads it and passes it on :D RAMADHAN KAREEM

  • @abuBakr97 oh kinda advice, ok barakallaoufik, thk u :D

  • @crisolgy ... if you think about it one's whole digestive system NEVER gets a break in your whole life (other than 7 or 8 hours in bed) but having a difficult thing (that obviously is to one's benefit) 'forced' on you is a good thing and that system gets a break from the mouth to the anus and everything in between. Muslims are less prone to heart disease and a whole raft of cancers, blood disorders and believe it or not mental issue's.... and that is all verifiable fact.

  • @crisology molecules but when your fasting and not eating complex carbs, the next most assimilable form of energy is fat.. so as the fat gets used the toxins all get flushed at the same time. By the end of ramadan one's whole system feels tighter and just BETTER. You FEEL the benefits to the system. I cannot begin to tell you the pleasure and confidence one gets from flexing ones will power and winning. I'm sure it does great things in one neurological pathways. It's hard to do NOTHING

  • @crisology You say your curious about the cyclic switch that is made after Ramadan. The whole point is to firstly make one aware of state of hunger and thirst and create a genuine empathy for those less fortunate. But oh what joy it is to wake up and have a nice cup of coffee afterward. One really does appreciate the little things much more. It often takes the stomach a month or two to re stretch and consequently one eats smaller portions. Technically speaking toxins attach to fat moleculs

  • @crisology This is a very good and poignant question. Ramadan is there amongst other things to show us how we SHOULD be all year round. It's a way of pulling us back from our own indulgent nature. Some Muslims stay up all night stuffing themselves and then sleep all day obviously missing the point. The same men and women are hardly likely to be observant. But for those that are I can assure you the benefits are enormous. Because it's so difficult the confidence boost one gets is considerable

  • @crisology During the time of the Prophet (PBuH) it is recorded that he would be fortunate to eat meat three times in a month so it wouldn't have been an issue (maybe to the Goat or Lamb) I'm a Muslim veggie bye the way. I expect the 'red' meat was a lot more healthy than that which we eat now. My comment 'We are not allowed to cut down trees'.. I was alluding to the instructions given to Ali when he was sent by the Prophet on a military campaign alluding to his sensitivity toward others..

  • @sonia26625 A 'Tip' is when somebody give you a good idea that may or may not benefit you. For example ..."A friend gave me a good tip the other day. He told me to buy some Gold or Silver Dihrams so I have some 'real' money when hyper-inflation hits and the dollar collapse's....."
