This is an anti-war song my dad wrote back in 1971 while serving in the army. It's another one of those songs I've grown up with and loved since I was a little kid, so after years spent singing it, and making slight changes here and there, I decided to record my own version of it.
Unfortunate how relevant the lyrics still are 40 years later, and no doubt still will be 40 years from now.

Every dead soldier
-------------------------

"Come join the army" the posters cry out
We'll teach you to shoot, to kill and to fight
The pleasures are many, the dangers are few
You'll have a good pension when your service is through
--------------
Every dead soldier is somebody's father
Somebody's husband or somebody's son
Every dead soldier is gone and forgotten
No matter who lost or who won
--------------
There are tombstones and graveyards
in many far lands
There are numbers and crosses stuck into the sand
But the names and the numbers
have faded and died
Now the hunters and the hunted lie side by side
--------------
Every dead soldier is somebody's father
Somebody's husband or somebody's son
Every dead soldier is gone and forgotten
No matter who lost or who won
--------------
Why cant we remember for the good of us all,
United we stand but divided we fall
--------------
I'll never understand how they,
think they're ever gonna find peace
using bullets and bombs on 'em
causin nothin but more pain, more tears and more worldwide mayhem
till more soldiers are dead, till the message is spread
that we're all gonna pay, that there's another way
Tell me, are we ever, ever, ever gonna stop?
Raise your hand, come on, sing with me
--------------
Every dead soldier is somebody's father
Somebody's husband or somebody's son
Every dead soldier is gone and forgotten
No matter who lost or who won

  • It's very important to be remembered!!!

I would like you to watch this Russian video youtube.com/watch?v=xzhvcvyHCI8&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL. The song is about a plane, called "Black Tulip" that brings bodies of young soldiers who was killed in Afgan. home to bury them. Pay attention to the dates on the tums stones, All of them are 20 something years old. Men in a clip are fathers of that boys.

Bless all of you soldiers, wherever you are.!!!

  • They fought for their lives

    so wonderfully

    live well in heaven

  • This is beautiful and so true. No soldier should be forgotten.

"A nation that forgets its defends will be itself forgotten."
