I call this the second chapter of the game, where you ditch the whaling ship and make it to the oil platform. If you know what to do, the whaling ship only takes about an hour or so to get through.
Anyway, this game man... this fucking game... This one proves just how biased the game 'review' industry is. This game came out just two months after Capcom's Resident Evil 4 hit the gamecube (this was released March of 2005, while the GC version of RE4 was released in January of 2005.) Then in October of '05, RE4 hit the PS2.
In any case, nearly all the reviews you'll find for this game bash it for 'not being scary', 'having no fear factor', being 'generic', and 'having a poor controllability'.
All fuckin' bullshit. This game beats the shit out of Resident Evil 4, yet due to bad publicity (sabotage), people never heard of it, have never played it, or thought to ignore it completely. It's definitely a gem, and though it, just like the Resident Evil series, borrows heavily from other horror films and concepts, this one pulls it off in a way Resident Evil 4 (giant wooden robot boy? FUCK YOU CAPCOM. FUCK YOU) - could never do.
Plot: Fuck it, the first five minutes here sums the plot up pretty quick. Also jumps right into the action, hence why I chose to start filming gameplay from here.
Take a gander, i've got another five or six continuing videos to upload tomorrow where this leaves off.
Critics complain that the 'loading time' is pretty bad for the PS2 version, but I assure you, it's well within acceptable limits (as you can see). RE4 had the same amount of load time, so what the fuck?
Also, this game improves on controlability where RE4 failed badly. The player's character, Chris Hansen, can aim in third person mode (in any direction, while moving in any other direction), or aim in the third person, over-the-shoulder perspective. Both have strongpoints, and both allow you to FUCKING STRAFE, whereas Leon could not.
One problem I see with the PS2 version though, is the lighting. Saving on memory, the lighting method that the game 'needs' is off kilter, making areas too bright, and areas where a definite artistic 'mood' is supposed to be present, become too bright and absent of any visceral horror-play.
Of course it can be remedied, DURR, by manually toning down the brightness of your television. For these videos, i've already done that. Youtube's video conversion will further darken the footage, hopefully it's not overkill.
Best version of the game is definitely on PC. Seconds faster loading times, and the graphics and lighting, as well as bump mapping really, REALLY make the game work on a whole other level.
Enjoy!
PS - If you're into horror gaming, definitely check out this game, Extermination, and The Thing.
PS - For all you blind clowns that want to defend RE4 over this game, if you can't post a comment with any relevant points to weigh against my (extremely powerful) opinion, I'll bash your comment through a few walls, smack it around like it's my bitch, then delete it. Also, if you can't fucking spell for shit, then don't bother replying negatively. That's an instant-ban.
Also, unlike RE4, Cold Fear came out for the Xbox, PS2, and PC within a few months, while RE4 whored itself out to nintendo, then the PS2 almost a year later, and then to the wii yet another year later (continuing Nintendo whorage).
I can also decimate the plot design of RE4 with just a few sentences. If you want to try me, feel free.
Why do u shoot every things head off? This might be a good game! :D

Because the little face hugger things can sometimes spring out from a dead corpse' head and take over a new body, or just give you more problems to worry about as they crawl through the floor and ceilings and attack you from blind spots.

wait cant you get sweeped out to sea in a few parts of the game?

Yeah, on several occasions you have to avoid spills that would take you overboard.
